Hello everyone! My name is Ashleigh Parker and I would like to welcome you to Astrological Insights with Ashleigh!
I first became interested in astrology as a teenager. I could not wait for my Seventeen Magazine to come in every month so I could check my horoscope. August fourth - Leo baby! I have always been entertained by horoscopes, but I didn't put a ton of faith in it. There are billions of people in the world, there's no way we can be divided into 12 groups, right? I just couldn't buy it.
In September 2020, my coworker asked me what my "Big 3" are. I had zero clue what the heck she was talking about. I remember saying, "all I know is I'm a Leo, but I don't really feel like a 'Leo'." She took my info (birth date, time, and location) and pulled up my chart. It was like looking at another language. When she broke down the basics, I learned that I have a Scorpio Moon and an Aries Rising. I still have that note in my phone. I knew this was critical information, even if I didn't know why yet.
I felt like my world had been tilted. That explained it! I don't feel like a Leo because there's an entire birth chart at play. * Spoiler Alert * We all actually have every sign in our chart, just some get more attention than others. I also have a night chart, so it's likely I vibe more with my moon placement - but we'll get into that in a later post.
Learning this information blew my freakin' mind. I thought astrology was putting us into boxes, but that couldn't be further from the truth. If anything, it taught me just how truly unique we all are.
By the next year I was in so deep. I had spent what felt like every available moment researching my chart; what each planet represented, how each sign manifests its traits, what aspects meant, etc. Like I said, I was all in. I devoured podcasts, blogs, books, videos, anything I could get my hands on to try to understand it better.
I have never been more at peace with myself.
I'm not too emotional, I have a water moon.
I'm not too stubborn, I have 5 planets in fixed signs.
I'm not too bossy, I have Capricorn on the midheaven.
There are so many things that make you YOU. I thought I was a mess, but I'm exactly who I was always supposed to be, and this information changed my life.
How did astrology get such a bad rap for being fake or simple? There are literally thousands of years of empirical evidence documenting transits with world events. Probably because it's all about the sun sign in pop astrology. I do have another post addressing this, so I won't get on my soap box here, but it's something I am here to shine some light on.

That brings us to today. I have attended the Northwest Astrology Conference (NORWAC), taken several classes and workshops, and have had my own chart read multiple times. I love seeing how other astrologers conduct themselves and have put this and five years of studying into my brand new business. I use Hellenistic astrology, also known as traditional astrology, focusing on the 2 luminaries and 5 visible planets; Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. I do use Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in my practice as well, but not as sign rulers as they were discovered in the relatively recent past. In the future I intend to cover the basics of astrology, current planetary positions, and some relevant personal anecdotes. I'm here to help you learn and to keep on learning myself.
